Web & Computer Based Training

We understand your bottom, and the man-power requirements will not allow total classroom participation. We welcome the challenge of long distance learning...

Introduction & Overview:
The design of the PowerPoint supports the methodology and starts with introductions all around, logistics for the class and training facility, and an overview of the class including the materials.

Begin the course section by asking and documenting the desired results from the class. What are they hoping to learn? Now reveal the agenda for the class and highlight the topics they mentioned. Remember during the duration of the class to refer to the ‘desires’ and check off as they are completed.

The next slide contains objectives for the section. It is important to clearly state the objectives of the section.

Tell Me: utilizes the PowerPoint presentation to express the basics, fundamentals of the process, and the 'pinch points' of the mechanics of SAP.

The PowerPoint presentation should be as short and direct as possible when working with students. Basic points concerning the topic but the goal is not a pretty PowerPoint presentation, the goal is to get the Users hands on the application as quickly as possible. The trade off here is the need to get certain topics out of the way. Students can go off to the next county on topics. This diversion can cause the action of simple time entry in SAP to take hours with the resulting impression the User will spend equal time performing the task when back at the desk if not more and this is just not the case.

Bullet point the known triggers, do not shy from the inevitable, facilitate the discussion and keep the focus positive and on the goal. Explain the process that is being covered and what steps are involved in the section. Warn the users of the issues coming their way in SAP. Keep the discussion and PowerPoint moving, don’t teach from the PowerPoint, and by all means capture any unclear discussion, topic, or question on the parking lot for review and follow-up later.

Show Me: is the fun part, Switch to SAP, explain the mechanical steps of SAP and walk through each field carefully referencing the courseware. Address questions and concerns but again, facilitate the discussions, parking lot issues, and if necessary, use a countdown timer to emphasize the futility of continuing a discussion that is irrelevant, off-topic, or already written down on the parking lot.

Let Me:  Time to pull up the PowerPoint to display the exercise for the students to perform. This practice time is essential to learning and comprehension. Offer reasonable time depending upon the abilities of the users. Allow and support synergy and cooperation between students as users normally learn best from peers. The best way to learn a subject is to teach or assist.

Test Me: Time for review, request what section was difficult, where were the hang-ups, what would make the class better. Provide any testing that may be appropriate then continue.

Review: the Next PowerPoint reveals either the next topic or, if appropriate, a review of the stated topics for the section.

At the end of the class do not forget to review the ‘Hope’ list to address any unaddressed items and most importantly review the Parking Lot to make sure the questions are recorded properly to allow understanding of the real question or topic.
